The Sailor Guardians is expanding in the upcoming duo of Sailor Moon Cosmos anime film with the addition of the Sailor Starlights, a three-piece group that makes hearts swoon in daylight as a boy band and fight evil by moonlight. To prepare people for how cool they are, a new trailer for the films was released today.
As announced back in January, the Sailor Starlights are voiced by:
- Saori Hayami (Yor in SPY x FAMILY) is Sailor Star Maker
- Marina Inoue (Tohka in Date A Live) is Sailor Star Fighter
- Ayane Sakura (Rei in Do It Yourself!!) is Sailor Star Healer
Theatrical gifts that will be given out to those who see both parts were also confirmed with items being given out over for five weeks of screenings. During the first week of screenings for the first film, theatergoers will get A5-sized visual cards featuring the teaser visual and the main visual plus more. Details on the second week are to be confirmed at a later time.

Tomoya Takahashi (Gatchaman Crowds assistant director) will be directing both parts of Sailor Moon Cosmos at both Toei Animation and Studio Deen. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) is writing the screenplay, while Kazuko Tadano (Sailor Moon seasons 1 and 2) returns once more for the character designs. Yasuharu Takanashi (Sailor Moon Crystal) is producing the music again for the films, with Yumiko Kuga from Studio Jack (Deaimon: Recipe for Happiness) as the art director on the films.
Sailor Moon Cosmos will adapt the "final battle" from the original manga series by Naoko Takeuchi, which was previously adapted as the last arc of the original Sailor Moon anime dubbed "Sailor Moon Sailor Stars." Cosmos's first film releases on June 9 while the second part enters theaters on June 30.
Cosmos continues on from the Sailor Moon Eternal two-part film, which was released in early 2021 in Japan and on Netflix on June 3 around the world. Eternal continued the Sailor Moon Crystal TV anime series, which is streaming here on Crunchyroll, which describes it as such:
Based on Naoko Takeuchi’s legendary manga series, Sailor Moon Crystal retells the story of Sailor Moon as she searches for her fellow Sailor Guardians and the Legendary Silver Crystal to stop the dark forces of Queen Beryl.
