Full Details of Pokémon Home Released, Free and Paid Options Help Bring Your Friends to Galar

Pokémon HOME

Finally, details of Pokémon HOME have been released, letting Pokémon fans know how they’ll be able to bring their favorite ‘Mons (or living dex) into the eighth generation of games – even if Pokémon Sword and Shield can’t support the Pokémon … yet.

Pokémon HOME

Pokémon HOME will come in two tiers; a free tier, where you can store up to 30 Pokémon at a time from the current generation games, and a premium (paid) tier, where you can bring up your Pokémon from past generations, store up to 6,000 of them and have some more expanded trading slots with an option to host trading rooms. The free tier can join these rooms, and trade, but can’t host them.

Both versions come with a complete national dex that features all the Pokémon from past generations, including their various forms. The Galar, Alola, gigatamax, and mega evolution forms automatically get added to the 'dex when you add a Pokémon that meet the criteria. The premium tier can also see the IVs and EVs of any Pokémon staying in HOME.

Pokémon HOME

Pokémon HOME can connect to Pokémon Sword and Shield on the Nintendo Switch, along with Pokémon Lets Go, Pikachu! and Eevee!, though once you move a Pokémon to Galar and back into HOME, they can’t be taken back to Kanto. HOME also connects with Pokémon Bank and with it, all the Nintendo 3DS Pokémon games. For the first month of HOME’s release, the cost of using the Poké Transporter and Pokémon Bank will be waived, letting you freely bring up your friends – if you have the premium tier.

Pokémon HOME

There will be two Pokémon HOME applications, one on the Nintendo Switch – to work with the games on the platform – and one on smartphones, where you can wonder trade, use the GTS, swap usernames with friends – no more friend codes! – and get mystery gifts exclusive to the application. Support for Pokémon GO won’t be there at launch, but is announced to be "coming soon." There is also a special home you can set up in HOME to collect HOME points which can be traded for Battle Points in Sword and Shield.

Pricing for Pokémon HOME starts at $2.99 for one month in the US, with a year costing $15.99. No firm date for the cloud service has been announced as of yet.

So Crunchies, what is the first Pokémon you’ll bring up from past games into HOME? I’m looking forward to hanging out with my 17-year-old Swampert from Pokémon Ruby again in Galar, once the expansion packs are released of course.
