‘Sometimes you have to walk’: Trump leaves Hanoi with no deal

Source: www.eastidahonews.com - Thursday, February 28, 2019 (CNN) — President Donald Trump’s Hanoi summit with Kim Jong Un , meant to demonstrate his diplomatic gamble with North Korea is working, instead ended with no joint agreement after Kim insisted all US sanctions be lifted on his country. That was a bridge too far for the US President, who said Kim offered to take some steps toward dismantling his nuclear arsenal but not enough to warrant ending the debilitating sanctions regime on the country. “Sometimes you have to walk,” Trump said during a news conference following the conclusion of the summit, which broke up earlier than planned. “This was just one of those times.” But it was evident from early in the summit that Trump was seeking to tamp down expectations, repeating he’s in no rush to strike a deal even as North Korea continues to advance its nuclear weapons program. “I’ve been saying very much from the beginning that speed is not that important to me,” Trump said earlie

Trump bet personality alone could make a deal with North Korea. It couldn’t

Fox's Andrew Napolitano: Why does Congress need Trump's tax returns "other than to torment, embarrass, humiliate him?"

Source: www.mediamatters.org - Thursday, February 28, 2019 BRIAN KILMEADE (CO-HOST): Judge, you think the president's got a few land mines here after that testimony??? ANDREW NAPOLITANO (FOX NEWS SENIOR JUDICIAL ANALYST): Well, if the testimony's true, now look -- STEVE DOOCY (CO-HOST): That's a big if.?? ... NAPOLITANO: I don't know where this is going to go. I think most people saw through Michael Cohen yesterday. If you like the president, Michael Cohen was a liar and a bitter guy trying to get back at somebody that is no longer his friend. If you dislike the president, there's a treasure trove of stuff here with which to torment him.?? KILMEADE: But, Judge, here's the thing. He's going to talk about his taxes, the president lied on his taxes, lied about insurance, lied about payments. And if it's just his words, that's one thing, but it looks as though that committee wants to investigate more. Bring in the CFO, bring in Ivanka, bring in Eric.??

An NBA Youth Academy Is The Best Solution For Tanking And The One-And-Done

Source: uproxx.com - Thursday, February 28, 2019 Getty Image The NBA community has the same discussions about the draft, one-and-done rule, and the issue of tanking every single year. The league has instituted new draft lottery reforms that will go into effect this summer, with odds smoothing to lessen the reward for having the worst record in an effort to get teams to try harder and not tank — the teams with the three-worst records all have a 14 percent chance at the top pick. That may have worked to an extent, as teams like the Hawks and Bulls have been more competitive recently, possibly due to not feeling as pressured to chase after the worst record in the league. Still, teams like the Knicks and Suns are abysmal and, so long as the lottery exists, there will be incentive to have a worse record. On top of the ever-present tanking discussion, the one-and-done rule is soon to be done away with, as the league has filed an official proposal to begin negotiations with the NBPA to roll

Tomi Ungerer obituary

His books, of which he wrote more than 140, and which have been translated into 30 languages, have delighted, amused and entertained young readers, but have often also frightened and unsettled them. Fear, Ungerer believed, is a vital element in childhood; it has to be dealt with, and in doing that, children will learn how to be courageous. Continue reading... All Related Source: Breaking News

Source: www.mediaite.com - Thursday, February 28, 2019 President Donald Trump says he doesn’t believe North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un knew about what happened to American student Otto Warmbier during a press conference that occurred in Hanoi very early Thursday morning EST. “Those prisons are rough, and bad things happen, but I really don’t believe [Kim Jong Un] knew about it.” Warmbier is an American student who was imprisoned in North Korea after he was charged with stealing one of the communist regime’s propaganda posters and was released after being detained in North Korea for approximately 17 months. Source: www.local10.com - Thursday, February 28, 2019 Testimony continues Thursday as a former South Florida police officer stands trial for killing a stranded black motorist. Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Chris Karpinski told jurors Wednesday there are discrepancies between the statements Nouman Raja told him and others four hours after the Oct. 18, 2015, shooting, and a recording of a phone call Corey Jones, 31, was making to a tow truck dispatch center. The former Palm Beach Gardens police officer shot and killed Jones, who was stranded on the side of an Interstate 95 exit ramp after his SUV had broken down. Judge Joseph Marx would not allow Karpinski to elaborate, but prosecutors played the video-recorded interview for the four-man, two-woman panel. They heard the tow truck audio Tuesday, the trial's first day of testimony. Raja's attorneys said any discrepancies between the interview and the shooting audio were caused by stress fogging Raja's memory, no

Mission Not Accomplished: Trump Bails on Hanoi Summit Early With No Deal

Source: www.mediaite.com - Thursday, February 28, 2019 President Donald Trump left Hanoi, Vietnam early on Thursday after denuclearization talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un broke down. Trump said at a presser that the talks failed when North Korea demanded all sanctions be lifted — “and we couldn’t do that.” The disagreement prompted the cancellation of a working lunch and joint agreement signing ceremony and Trump’s early departure on Air Force One. “Actually I think it was a very productive two days, but sometimes you just have to walk,” Trump told reporters, which you can watch above. The two sides “couldn’t even agree on the definition of denuclearization,” explained CNN senior correspondent Michelle Kosinski from Hanoi. “This is proof that President Trump’s insistence on this top-down approach to this extremely complicated decades-long problem is not necessarily going to work out the way he expects.” “They couldn’t even finish this summit and have lunch together,” she ad

Seattle’s Jayapal to introduce Medicare for All bill in Congress

Source: www.columbian.com - Wednesday, February 27, 2019 SEATTLE — U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal is introducing a Medicare for All bill that would create a government-funded, single-payer health-care system to cover every person in the United States. The proposal, which has 107 co-sponsors, is even more ambitious in scope — covering more services, more quickly — than the Medicare for All bill previously proposed by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. And it comes not from a two-time presidential candidate, but from Jayapal, a second-term Seattle Democrat who’s fast becoming an influential leader of national progressives. Jayapal, the co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, leads a group of 96 House members that’s begun to assert significant sway on the Democratic Party. In January, Jayapal garnered better committee assignments for her caucus in exchange for supporting Rep. Nancy Pelosi as House speaker. Then she extracted a guarantee that her Medicare for All bill would get hearings in

The millennial perception For a long time, millennial working habits and traits have been a topic of much conversation and debate, mostly misunderstood for their different approach and style to working. Earlier generations have labelled them disloyal and entitled. In many workplaces, corporate culture is traditionally top-down and rigid, with mandated working hours, seating arrangements, and stipulated lunch breaks. According to a study by Intelligence Group, millennials aspire to be their own boss, enjoy flexible workin

Nets Lionize Liar Cohen, Chide Republicans for ‘Attacking His Credibility’

Source: www.newsbusters.org - Wednesday, February 27, 2019 Despite Michael Cohen’s shady history and federal conviction for lying to Congress, the liberal broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) hung on his every word following Wednesday’s hearing before the Democratic-led House Oversight Committee.
