Fate/Grand Order Has Racked up $4 Billion Worldwide

Mobile game Fate/Grand Order is continuing strong into 2020. The RPG adaptation of TYPE-MOON's ever-popular Fate series was Twitter's most tweeted game of 2019, and now it's blazed all the way to $4 billion in total earnings worldwide.

The game is free to play, but players jonesing for that one special Servant can drop real money for extra summons. The game has raked in more than $1 bil globally for the second year running—and the majority of that is out of Japan. More than 80%, in fact.

Unsurprisingly, the game's home country takes the lead on spending, with $3.3 billion of the game's earnings so far (81.5%) coming out of Japan. China is second with just under $416 million (10.4%), and the United States is third with just under $152 million (3.8%). That's an average of $291 per download globally... but $487 per download within Japan.

Fate/Grand Order continues strong, with the anime adaptation of its Babylonia arc underway and a two-film remake of its Camelot arc coming to theaters this year.
