Japan Box Office: Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween Makes Its No.1 Debut

The Detective Conan anime franchise's 25th feature film Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween was finally released in 498 theaters (including 39 IMAX theaters, 80 4D theaters, 5 DOLBY CINEMA theaters) Japan on April 15, and, as expected, made its No.1 debut with 1.384 billion yen (10.88 million USD) on 966,000 admissions in its first weekend. The film's first Saturday-Sunday gross was about 81.6 percent of that of the previous 24th film The Scarlet Bullet released last April.

According to Filmarks, the film also ranked No.1 in its first day satisfaction ranking with an average rating of 4.07/5.0 based on 4,158 reviews.

As reported, The Bride of Halloween earned an estimated 523 million yen (4.13 million USD) on its first day, which was about 124 percent of that of the top-grossing film in the series, The Fist of Blue Sapphire released in April 2019. In the three-day total from Friday through Sunday, The Bride of Halloween made 1.9 billion yen (14.95 million USD) on 1.32 million admissions, which was 101 percent of The Fist of Blue Sapphire and 86.36 percent of The Scarlet Bullet. Based on these figures, it is currently difficult to say whether the film will surpass the 10 billion yen mark for the first time in the franchise, as has been expected.
