1st Jujutsu Kaisen TV Anime Visual Breaks the Seal

Jujutsu Kaisen

After we got the first trailer for upcoming TV anime Jujutsu Kaisen last week, on May 25, the first key visual for the adaptation of Gege Akutami's hit Weekly Shonen Jump serialized manga series was released in all its superpowered glory.

Additionally, the cast and staff released their own celebrations for the upcoming TV anime, with director Sunghoo Park (Garo -Vanishing Line-, upcoming The God of High School TV anime) saying that he wanted to bring Gege Akutami's manga series to a "higher-level with the acting of the voice actors and lively animation" from the already high "breathe of characters" from the manga.

Series composer and screenplay writer Hiroshi Seko (Mob Psycho 100Attack on Titan) also commented on the upcoming TV anime, saying that when he read the original Jump work, he was "dragged in, like a kid" and was "honored to participate" in the adaptation. Seko says the highlights of Jujutsu Kaisen "are the characters and battles," in which "the characters have strong personalities which set them apart from the other series, and when characters interact with each other, an explosive reaction occurs."

Voice actor Junichi Suwabe (Shota Aizawa in My Hero Academia), who was announced to be voicing Sukuna last week, also commented, saying that he thinks "It's a very important role, so there's a lot of pressure" but will "do my best to express the persuasive power of Jujutsu Kaisen."

Viz Media has licensed the manga series for an English speaking audience, releasing the manga chapters as it comes out in Japan on the Shonen Jump and Manga Plus apps. They describe the first volume as such:

Although Yuji Itadori looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Research Club. One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object. Little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…

Jujutsu Kaisen is scheduled to broadcast starting in October during the "Super Animeism" block on MBS, TBS, and their affiliates on Friday nights.
