Penguin Box's Odekake Kozame Manga Gets Anime Adaptation This Summer

Penguin Box's Odekake Kozame slice-of-life manga will be adapted into an anime this summer. The title literally means "A Little Shark Going Out."

The manga was originally posted on the author's Twitter account, which hosts cute animal illustrations, manga, and GIF animations. Its print edition is published from KADOKOWA for two volumes since January 2021, and its latest third volume is set to be released on May 30.

The story follows a little shark character, Kozame-chan's adventures in Yauo town, which smells "nostalgic." From radio exercises to festival stalls to meeting with friends, Kozame-chan has a variety of heartwarming experiences in the town. The anime's official website and Twitter also opened today, with a teaser visual and a first trailer.

In celebration of the anime adaptation, the original author, Penguin Box, has posted a message to fans and a congratulatory illustration:

Odekake Kozame will get its anime adaptation! I would like to thank all of you who have always supported the manga and the people involved in the production for making this happen. Thank you so much! I would be very happy if you could enjoy the adventures of Kozame in the Yauo town, which has a little nostalgic atmosphere, in the anime as well!
