The 34th Tokyo International Film Festival Unveils Films for "Japanese Animation Section"

A press conference for the forthcoming 34th Tokyo International Film Festival was held at Tokyo Midtown Hibiya BASE Q HALL on September 28 to announce the lineup of films to be screened in each section.

This year's keyword for the "Japanese Animation" section is "Onko-chishin" — respect the past, create the new. In addition to the latest anime feature films, the section will look back on the history of acclaimed animator Yasuo Otsuka, who passed away in March of this year, with a retrospective. Also, the tokusatsu section will focus on the "Kamen Rider/MASKED RIDER" series, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and will screen films from the Showa and Heisei eras.

The 34th Tokyo International Film Festival will be held from October 30 to November 8, 2021, in the Hibiya, Yurakucho and Ginza areas in Tokyo. Check out the lineup for the "Japanese Animation" section below.
