Zegapain to Get All-new Original Hard Science Fiction Novel in 2021

On August 31, which is a very important day in the story, the Zegapain anime franchise's official Twitter announced that an all-new original hard science fiction novel is set to be released in 2021. While its author is not mentioned yet, the tweet suggests that it will be linked to Yuya Takashima's spin-off novel Entangle:Girl published just one year ago.

The Sunrise-animated sci-fi robot TV anime was aired for 26 episodes from April to September 2006, and its complex worldview, which incorporated elements of singularity, virtual reality, and time-loops, was highly praised among critics and viewers.

Entangle:Girl, a spin-off story without giant robots, was serialized for 30 chapters on the Hayate Bunko website, then its print edition was published from Tokyo Sogensha on August 31, 2019. Its story centers on the anime's main heroine Ryoko Kaminagi. She and her fellow students at the movie club begin to make a feature film for a contest. The deadline for the application is the last day of the summer vacation. As the filming continues, Ryoko and her friends notice some strange discrepancies here and there. Not only in high school, but also in the town of Maihama-city itself...

Ryoko's anime VA Kana Hanazawa says on the wrap-around band of the book, "If you're new to reading this book without knowing about Zegapain, I think you're going to be blown away. I'm so jealous."
