Tokyo 7th Sisters General Producer: "We Want to Make It as An Entertainment Film that Everyone Can Enjoy"

As reported, Tokyo 7th Sisters -Bokura wa Aozora ni Naru (We will become the blue sky)-, a 70-minute anime film inspired by Donuts' smartphone rhythm game Tokyo 7th Sisters, Nanasis for short, is now in the works for a time-limited release in the summer of 2020 (the release date may be changed depending on the COVID-19 situation). The film is animated by Toei Animation (One Piece, PreCure series) to celebrate the game franchise's sixth anniversary.

In addition to the key visual and the 50-second teaser trailer, the film's official website has posted the messages from the anime project's two key persons: the original story creator/screenplay writer/music producer Shintaro Motegi and the director Takayuki Kitagawa

Motegi has been attached to the game franchise as the general producer since its launch in 2014, while Kitagawa, who recently worked as a key animator for The Rising of the Shield Hero TV anime, makes his film directorial debut.

Message from Shintaro Motegi:

"For six years, I have been working on Nanasis to make something brilliant. There have been many encounters during the journey, and I have been blessed with happy encounters again this time. The Nanasis expressed in animation, which I've wanted to see for the past few years. Through this lucky opportunity, we want to make it an entertainment film that everyone can enjoy, regardless of whether they know Nanasis or not. With that in mind, I have been working hard every day with all the staff members. What is a glorious thing? I would be happy if you can feel one of the answers from the Sisters, who are doing their best brightly, energetically, and straightforward more than ever."

Message from Takayuki Kitagawa:

"I have participated in the Tokyo 7th Sisters series that has a distinguished history while feeling the pressure. Each staff member has been working hard with Motegi-san to bring out the charm of Nanasis. 'Pushing someone on the back.' I think it would be wonderful if that theme could be realized with the vivid expression that animation can deliver. I'll be excited to see you at the theater. Please look forward to the summer of 2020."
