Otakon 2020 is the Latest Convention to Be Canceled

Otakon 2020

Otakon 2020 was scheduled to be held from July 31 to August 2 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, but unfortunately it has now been canceled. Like many other events planned for this year, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Otakon staff to make a tough decision and shut down this year's event.

In Otakon's case, the convention center is being converted into an Alternate Care Facility. After discussing options, the staff decided even the most optimistic scenario would call for a move-out and clean up process that could run into the planned Otakon dates.

If you were already registered for Otakon 2020, don't worry, all 2020 registrations will carry over to 2021 with no additional action needed. For those unable to attend in 2021, or those who need refunds for any other reason, Otakon is making an exception to their standard no-refunds policy for these unique circumstances. You can find out more info on that—along with info for dealers and artists—at the official website.

Now, for the good news… 2021 dates are here! Otakon will return to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center August 6-8, 2021.
