Hypnosis Mic Drops New Beats, a New PV, and a July Release Date

Mixed media rap battle project Hypnosis Mic has fought its way through live concerts, CDs, manga, and stage shows. The anime adaptation is coming this summer, and Aniplex has dropped a first look at our boys in action.

Set in a future Japan where weapons are outlawed, Hypnosis Mic follows rival gangs in Tokyo as they fight turf wars through rap battles. Rappers make use of the Hypnosis Mic, a microphone allowing their words to directly affect people's psyches. Central to the story are Buster Bros!!!, MAD TRIGGER CREW, Fling Posse, and Matenrou—each led by a former member of legendary group The Dirty Dawg.

Check them out in action in the first PV for the project's anime adaptation, Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- Rhyme Anima:

The PV also features a sample of "Hypnosis Mic -Rhyme Anima-," the show's opening theme performed by the 12-person cast.

The series will be animated at A-1 Pictures (Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend) and directed by Katsumi Ono (Symphogear). Shin Yoshida (Yu-Gi-Oh!) handles series composition, with Minako Shiba (Black Butler) on character design.

Music for the series will be written, composed, and arranged by musical duo invisible manners, who have composed for the groups previously—including the project's anthem, "Division Rap Battle":

Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- Rhyme Anima premieres in July on TOKYO MX, BS11, and other channels across Japan.
