The official Twitter for the upcoming anime adaptation of Shimesaba's romantic comedy light novel series Hige o Soru. Soshite Joshi Kousei o Hirou. (I Shave My Beard. Then I Pick Up a High School Girl.) opens today. Along with the main staff list, the account confirmed that the anime will be produced as a TV show.
The novel was first posted on KADOKAWA's user-generated novel publishing website Kakuyomu in 2017, then its print edition has been released from the publisher's Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint since February 2018. Its latest fourth volume is set to be available on August 1, 2020. The whole series including its print edition, digital edition, and manga adaptation illustrated by Imaru Adachi has reached a cumulative circulation of 700,000 copies.
Its story focuses on a relationship between a high school girl Sayu, who ran away from home for some reason, and an office worker Yoshida, who ends up living with her by chance. The anime adaptation project was announced back in December 2019.
Manabu Uekita is attached to direct the TV anime, alongside character designer Takayuki Noguchi (Ro-Kyu-Bu!, Angel's 3Piece!) and series composition writer Deko Akao (Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?). Dream Shift (The Ryuo's Work is Never Done!) produces the project, while project No.9 (Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!) works on anime production.
