Japan Box Office: Kyo Kara Ore Wa!! Live-Action Film Stays at No.1

Following the impressive opening, the live-action feature film adaptation of Hiroyuki Nishimori's school thug-themed comedy manga Kyo Kara Ore Wa!! maintained the top spot on Japan's box office ranking in its second weekend.

The 114-minute film earned 496 million yen on 389,000 admissions in its second weekend, bringing its total to 2.07 billion yen with the 1.61 million ticket sales. Its current gross has already surpassed the total domestic gross of the director Yuichi Fukuda's previous film Wotakoi: Love Is Hard for Otaku released in February 2020 and collected 1.31 billion yen. If this strong momentum continues, this film could be as successful at the box office as Fukuda's hit series, Gintama, which was based on Hideaki Sorachi's comedy manga of the same name.

The new compilation from the Attack on Titan anime franchise, Attack on Titan: Chronicle, also opened last weekend and ranked tenth, disappeared from the top 10 only after one week.
