Named for the in-universe festival held multiple times throughout the series, June 18 will officially mark "Watanagashi Day" for residents of Hinamizawa Village and fans of horror anime Higurashi: When They Cry - GOU. A special visual by character designer Akio Watanabe, best known for his work on the Monogatari anime series, was unveiled to commemorate the occasion.

 

It was also announced that a livestream marathon of the reboot anime will be shown from 14:00 to 24:25 on Nicovideo.

A reimagining of the cult-classic visual novels created by Ryukishi07, the Higurashi: When They Cry - GOU anime is directed by Keiichiro Kawaguchi (Spy Classroom) at studio Passione, with series composition by Naoki Hayashi (Yuri Is My Job!), character designs by Akio Watanabe (Bakemonogatari) and music by Kenji Kawai (My Home Hero).

 

Crunchyroll streams the rural horror series in a range of subs and dubs, describing it as such:

 

Moving to the quiet village of Hinamizawa, Keiichi easily finds friendship amongst his new classmates. Ready for the largest festival of the year, he's unable to dismiss a looming sense of dread. What dark secrets lie buried in his new home?
