LiSA's Demon Slayer TV Anime Opening Theme Wins JASRAC Gold Award for 2 Consecutive Years

JASRAC (Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers) announced on May 18 that anison singer LiSA's 15th single song "Gurenge" (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba TV anime opening theme) won the JASRAC Awards' Gold Award for two years in a row.

The JASRAC Award recognizes and honors the achievements of lyricists, composers, and music publishers of works for which JASRAC distributed royalties from music distribution, karaoke, commercials, etc., in the previous fiscal year. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the award since its establishment in 1982. The number of songs registered with JASRAC in 2021 was 2,826,076.

Winning the Gold Award means "Gurenge" was the most profitable domestic song of the year 2021 in Japan. And the song won the second prize, the Silver Award, was "Homura" also sung by LiSA, which was featured as the theme song to the 2020 anime film Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train. LiSA says, "I am very honored that so many people have loved my songs for so long, as they did last year. May our future be as bright as the lotus flowers that bloom from the surface of the water toward the sun."

Meanwhile, the International Award, which is given to the domestic song that received the highest amount of royalties from overseas use, went again to "Naruto Shippuden BGM" composed by Yasuharu Takanashi following last year.
