For fans of the Boys Run The Riot manga, tonight's news will be most welcome, as Kodansha has officially announced in conjunction with the Cartoon Crossroads comics festival based in Columbus, Ohio that creator Keito Gaku will make their first-ever US in-person appearance during the festival alongside other esteemed luminaries in US comics in September of this year.

Crunchyroll News previously interviewed Keito Gaku in-depth on the genesis and inspiration behind Boys Run The Riot last June and the interview is definitely worth reading if you missed it the first time around. Kodansha Comics publishes the manga in English and describes it:

A transgender teen named Ryo finds an escape from the expectations and anxieties of his daily life in the world of street fashion. This personal, heartfelt, fictional story from a transgender manga creator made waves in Japan and will inspire readers all over the world!

This year's installment of the CXC Festival will be held from September 27- October 1 in Columbus, Ohio across multiple venues in the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum, Columbus College of Art & Design, Columbus Metropolitan Library, the Columbus Museum of Art, GFC: Gateway Film Center and the Wexner Center for the Arts. Festival programming co-chair Ben Towle, himself an Eisner animated cartoonist, describes the festival for newcomers:

Comics, as an art form, spans many genres, audiences, and formats--and assembling a representative group of artists is challenging, CXC 2023's special guests include creators from many disparate areas of comics: from best-selling kids' cartoonists to New York Times best-selling adult graphic novelists, webcomics to newspaper strips. We spotlight some of the best Columbus-based cartoonists as well as artists from around the globe.

More information will be released in the next few months leading up to the festival. Updates can be found via the official website linked below.
