During the stage greeting and live-viewing evet for the second part of Free!-the Final Stroke- held at the Shinjuku Piccadilly theater in Tokyo on June 30, it was announced that Kyoto Animation plans to hold a special event to celebrate the tenth anniversary of its Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club anime franchise in 2023. The first season of the swimming-themed sports TV anime Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club, based on the light novel series by Ohji Kouji, was aired in 2013, then the second and third season followed in 2014 and 2018. It has also has five films, and its final two-part film Free!-the Final Stroke- was released in September 2021 and April 2022, respectively. Its second part's 4D screenings in Japan begin today on July 1, 2022.
