The Aikatsu! series recently announced plans to premiere a 10th anniversary celebration anime film—Aikatsu! 10th STORY ~Mirai heno STARWAY~ (Starway to the Future)—alongside the upcoming Aikatsu Planet! movie, and now both are in the spotlight in a new promo. The latest trailer samples theme songs from both films, including Aikatsu Planet!'s "Bloomy*Smile" by Ichigo Hoshimiya and Akari Ozora—the two protagonists in the first Aikatsu! TV anime series—and Aikatsu! 10th STORY's "MY STARWAY" by Waka Kirishima, Furi Uebana and Yuna Ichikura.

As the first live-action and animation hybrid TV show in the idol-themed Aikatsu! franchise, Aikatsu Planet! was aired for 25 episodes in Japan from January 10 to June 27, 2021. Its feature film project was revealed at the "Sunrise Festival 2021 REGENERATION" event held on October 3, 2021, and director Ryuichi Kimura, script supervisor Misuzu Chiba and character designer Risa Miyadani are among the returning staff members.
