Kyoto Animation Plans Free! Franchise's 10th Anniversary Event in 2023

    During the stage greeting and live-viewing evet for the second part of Free!-the Final Stroke-  held at the Shinjuku Piccadilly theater in Tokyo on June 30, it was announced that Kyoto Animation plans to hold a special event to celebrate the tenth anniversary of its Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club anime franchise in 2023. Mai Fuchigami Wears Weird Fox Mask in Classroom of the Elite Season 2 Ending Theme Music Video

    The official YouTube channel for voice actress Mai Fuchigami 's (Miho Nishizumi in Girls und Panzer , Nagisa Shiota in Assassination Classroom ) has started steaming a short version music video for her seventh single song "Hito Shibai" ( Human Drama ), which will be featured as the ending theme for the forthcoming second season of the TV anime adaptation of Shogo Kinugasa's light novel series Classroom of the Elite .   As her first single in 18 months since "Marionette coup d'etat" in January 2021, it is set to be released in Japan on July 27, 2022. She also wrote the lyrics for the coupling song of the single, "Short Cake no Ichigo wa, Anata ni Ageru." Ghibli Producer Suzuki Says Miyazaki's Next Film is "Still in Progress"

    Toshio Suzuki , producer of Studio Ghibli, attended the opening ceremony of the "Toshio Suzuki and Ghibli Exhibition" held at Terada Warehouse in Tennozu, Tokyo, on June 30 and discussed the studio's current activities with the press. During the discussion, he confirmed that production of Hayao Miyazaki's new film How Do You Live? , which is based on Yoshino Genzaburo's 1937 novel of the same name, is still in progress.   At the first interview for the exhibition, which took place in 2019, Suzuki said of the release of How Do You Live? , "Three years from now...?" Almost three years have passed since then. He was asked about the current status of the film and answered, "It's a unique question... As already announced, Hayao Miyazaki has been working on How Do You Live? . It has been a long time, but the production is still in progress." If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die Manga Gets TV Drama Adaptation in October

      19 months after the teaser announcement back in December 2020, it is finally announced today that a live-action TV drama adaptation of Auri Hirao's underground idol-themed yuri comedy manga Oshi ga Budokan Ittekuretara Shinu / If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I would Die , OshiBudo for short, is set to premiere in Japan in October 2022.   The manga has been serialized in Tokuma Shoten's Monthly Comic Ryu since its August 2015 issue (in its web edition since July 2018) and has released eight tankobon volumes so far. As reported , its total print run has surpassed one million copies. It was announced when its seventh volume was released in December 2020 that a live-action project based on the manga was planned.     Exactly seven years ago (JST), on June 30, 2015, Aqours , the nine-member unit of the Love Live! Sunshine!! anime franchise, was officially formed. Yuki Yamada, Shimofuri Myojo Members Join ONE PIECE FILM RED as Jellyfish Pirates

    The official website for ONE PIECE FILM RED , the forthcoming 15th feature film in the One Piece anime franchise, announced three additional guest voice cast today - actor Yuki Yamada (Joe Gibken/Gokai Blue in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger ) and the two members of Japanese comedy duo Shimofuri Myojo , Seiya and Soshina .   The three are cast as the members of the Jellyfish Pirates, who participate in Uta's first live performance at the beginning of the film - Yamada as the captain Eboshi, Seiya as Kaginote, and Soshina as Hanagasa. The three original characters were newly deigned by the One Piece manga's author, Eiichiro Oda, who also serves as the executive producer of the film.     The official website for the forthcoming anime film adaptation of Mei Hachimoku's The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes sci-fi novel announced on June 28 that its theme song "Finale." is written/performed by singer-songwriter eill .   eill made her professional debut from Pony Canyon in April 2021. Among anime fans, she is best known for her first digital single song "Koko de Iki wo Shite," which was used as the first ending theme for the TV anime Tokyo Revengers .   "Finale." is her newly-written song and this is the first time that she has provided a theme song for an anime feature film.     The official website for voice actress Saori Hayami has announced the release of her new song "Tear of Will"  and posted her comments about the song. The lyrics of the songs are written by herself, while British-Australian composer Kevin Penkin ( Made in Abyss ) serves as composer/arranger. Japan Box Office: Fullmetal Alchemist: Final Transmutation Makes Its Disappointing 8th Place Debut

    Following the first part The Avenger Scar last month, Final Transmutation , the second and final part of the Fullmetal Alchemist Complete Edition live-action film series, was finally released in 345 theaters across Japan on June 24. Unfortunately, but as expected, it made its disappointing eighth place debut with an estimated 70 million yen (551,027 USD).   The poor first weekend gross was 2 million yen (15,743 USD) less than that of The Avenger Scar and only 26.5 percent of that of the first live-action film released in 2017. Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween Anime Film Clues in Past 9 Billion Yen

  Even in its 25th anime film, the latest Detective Conan (which is known as Case Closed in some English-speaking countries) anime film continues to set franchise records with the anime surpassing the 9 billion yen milestone at the Japanese box office – the third film in the entire franchise to do so.   Box office tracker Kogyo Tsushinsha reports that Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween has made 9.03 billion yen (US$70.23 million) in Japan .
