Based on the popular video game, the Uta no Prince-sama: Maji Love anime series was launched in 2011 and is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. Following its first film in 2019, a new film Uta no Prince-sama The Movie: Maji LOVE ST☆RISH TOURS is confirmed to be released in 2022.
Uta no Prince-sama The Movie: Maji LOVE Kingdom, the 84-minute first film focusing on stage performances by the franchise's three male idol teams - ST☆RISH, QUARTET NIGHT, and HE★VENS - was released in 126 theaters in Japan on June 14, 2019, then earned 1.82 billion yen (16.6 million USD) on over one million admissions from its domestic run.
As its title suggests, the upcoming new film Maji LOVE ST☆RISH TOURS will feature newly-animated live performance of the seven-member unit ST☆RISH. Since this new project is called "Film Series," more films focusing on other units are expected be released in the future. Stay tuned!
