After the broadcast of its final 12th episode in Japan last night, it was officially announced that a stage play adaptation of the figure skating-themed original TV anime Skate-Leading Stars is set to be performed at Shinagawa Prince Hotel Stellar Ball in Tokyo in October 2021.
The J.C. Staff (A Certain Magical Index, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?)-animated series depicted high school boys who are competing in a fictional figure skating team competition called "Skate-Leading." Goro Taniuchi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) serves as the general director, and Yana Toboso (Black Butler manga series) provided the original character designs.
The upcoming stage play will be written/directed by Kazuhito Yoneyama (Space Battleship Tiramisu stage play) at 4cu (Hetalia musicals). 22-year-old Ryoki Nagae, best known for his portrayal as Italy in the Hetalia musicals from 2015 to 2017 and Rampo Edogawa in the Bungo Stray Dogs stage plays from 2017 to 2020, is cast as the protagonist Kensei Maeshima.
Further details including how the competition will be recreated on stage will be announced at a later date.

Synopsis:
Kensei Maeshima left the world of figure skating after his rival said, “You’ll never beat me.” Years later, he’s using his athleticism to help several high school teams, never focusing on one. But when his adversary publicly announces a shift to a team sport, a kid familiar with Kensei’s past finds and offers him an invitation to lace up his skates and join the world of skate-leading.
