To promote its release in Japan on July 3, 2020, Happinet's official YouTube channel has started streaming a 110-second SD/HD comparison clip for the forthcoming Blu-ray box of the TV anime Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. The clip shows how the visuals are upgraded in the high-quality full HD remastered edition from the original Japanese TV broadcast edition.
The Toei Animation-produced TV anime adaptation of the Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai manga written by Riku Sanjo and illustrated by Koji Inada was aired for 46 episodes from October 1991 to September 1992. The Blu-ray box, which is the first video product since the VHS releases in the 1990s, includes the TV anime series and the three short anime films, all of which are scanned from their original 35 mm negatives with high resolution. The price in Japan is 42,000 yen (excluding tax/about 390 US dollars).
