Surfing-themed Three-Part Anime Film WAVE!! to Open in October 2020

 

 

The official website for WAVE!! Surfing Yappe!!, the forthcoming three-part anime film from Love&Art's surfing-themed mixed-media project WAVE!!, announced that the three films will be released in 13 Japanese theaters, including Shinjuku Wald9 in Tokyo, in October 2020. Its first chapter's release date is set for October 2, then its second and third chapters will follow in sequence on October 16 and 30.

 

The film's protagonist is Masaki Hinaoka (CV: Tomoaki Maeno), who was born and raised at the Oarai Shore in Ibaraki Prefecture, where is washed up by big waves literally all year round. The story begins when he meets a prince-like transfer student, Sho Akitsuki (Jin Ogasawara), and learns about surfing, the ultimate sports confronting the earth across one board.

 

Takaharu Ozaki (Goblin Slayer) serves as director, alongside series composition writer Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) and character designer Tomoko Iwasa (Hakumei and Mikochi). Asahi Production (Omae wa Mada Gunma o Shiranai) works on anime production.

 

The site has also released the first chapter's key visual featuring the three protagonist boys: Masaki, Sho, and Naru. 

 

 

 

Advance tickets in two editions (MoviTike edtion and standard paper edition) will go on sale at the theaters from August 7.
