The latest Spring Tokyo Revengers TV anime is off to a rolling start, but with the release of the official numbers today, we learned just how big the franchise has gotten in Japan since the adaptation of Ken Wakui's manga series began, and it'll shock you so much you'll go back in time!
Kodansha, the publisher of the series in Japan, revealed today that since the anime series began, the Tokyo Revengers manga series has sold 6.7 times the amount it did before the anime aired, with (by Kodansha's own estimates) one volume selling every 2.4 seconds. That's a whole lot of manga! Kodansha said that the editors of the series are overjoyed that the manga is selling way more than expected.
Just before the anime began in March, the official manga twitter account for Tokyo Revengers revealed that the series had 10 million copies sold (digitally) and printed (physically). Since then, the series has stayed in the top manga selling charts, being the 9th highest-selling series in March, according to Oricon who track physical sales of media in Japan, and jumped to 2nd place (and above Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) in April. With the live-action film around the corner as well, it'll be interesting to see how much the manga has sold when the next official numbers release.

Takemichi Hanagaki is a freelancer that's reached the absolute pits of despair in his life. He finds out that the only girlfriend he ever had in his life that he dated in middle school, Hinata Tachibana, had been killed by the ruthless Tokyo Manji Gang. The day after hearing about her death, he's standing on the station platform and ends up being pushed over onto the tracks by a herd of people. He closes his eyes thinking he's about to die, but when he opens his eyes back up, he somehow had gone back in time 12 years. Now that he's back living the best days of his life, Takemichi decides to get revenge on his life by saving his girlfriend and changing himself that he'd been running away from.
