Digimon Adventure:'s Agumon and Taichi Kick Off J-League Soccer Game

Taichi and Agumon

The lead duo from Digimon Adventure:, Taichi and Agumon, appeared at the opening of the Kawasaki Frontale vs. Kashima Antlers J-League soccer game on May 30, with Agumon making the first kick of the game. The duo appeared at the game due to the series being focused around the Musashi-Kosugi Station area in Kawasaki City, as well as the stadium being in the same area.

For Kawasaki Frontale, this was a record-breaking game. The team won against the Kashima Antlers 2 to 1, giving Kawasaki the record for most consecutive games won in the J-League since the league began, winning all 20 games of the season so far. If the last season was counted, that record goes up to 25. For Kawasaki manager Toru Oniki, it was his 100th win as a manager, and the fastest to 100 wins for a manager ever, doing so in 156 games. Ironically, Oniki started his career as a footballer at the Kashima Antlers in 1993.
