Hiroki Suzuki & Yoshihiko Aramaki to Star in Bakuman. Stage Play Adaptation This Fall

"Bakuman. THE STAGE," a stage play adaptation of Tsugumi Ohba (story) and Takeshi Obata (art)'s Bakuman. manga, is set to be performed in Tokyo and Osaka in October 2021.

As the team's second collaboration after Death Note, the manga was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from 2008 to 2012, then compiled in 20 tankobon volumes. As of June 2020, its total circulation has reached 15 million copies. Its story follows the struggles of a pair of high school manga artists, Moritaka Mashiro and Akito Takagi, as they strive to reach the top of Weekly Shonen Jump. It was adapted into a TV anime series for three seasons from 2010 to 2013, and its live-action film adaptation starring Takeru Sato (Mashiro) and Ryunosuke Kamiki (Takagi) was released in Japan in October 2015.

The stage play will be directed by Worry Kinoshita, who is best known for his works for the Haikyu!! stage play series, on his own script. Hiroki Suzuki (35 / Yasutomo Arakita in Yowamushi Pedal stage plays) is cast as Moritaka Mashiro, while Yoshihiko Aramaki (31 / Yamanbagiri Kunihiro in Touken Ranbu stage play) plays Akito Takagi. A teaser visual below introduces the two main cast in costume.
