This week's episode of Pokémon Journeys will see the return of Ash's first rival, Gary Oak. Gary's last full appearance in the long running TV anime series was around 12 years ago during the Diamond and Pearl saga. Ahead of tomorrow's boradcast, the first images of the episode and Gary were released, alongside a few other familiar faces that are hanging out at Professor Oak's lab.
Gary is continuing his work researching legendary Pokémon, which is what bring him in the path of Ash once again, and more importantly Goh, who is searching for Mew. Professor Oak informs Goh that a Mew expedition is looking for new members to hunt for the legendary creature. from the images above, we can aslo see the return of Ash's original Pokémon for the first series, as well as the return of Gary's Blastoise, which he got from his Grandfather in the first episode!
The Pokémon Journeys TV anime, which will be rebranded as Pokémon Master Journeys later this year, is just titled Pocket Monsters in Japan, airs every Friday on TV Tokyo. Netflix streams the series in the United States, with the first 48 episodes currently on the service and no word yet on part five.
