New Anime Film Adaptation of Tatsuya Miyanishi's "Tyrannosaurus" Picture Book Slated for Early Summer 2020

 

  

A new anime feature film Sayonara, Tyranno (Goodbye, Tyranno) is set to be released in Japan in early summer of 2020. Its story is mainly based on Zutto Zutto Isshodayo (We will be together forever and always), the 11th book in Tatsuya Miyanishi's "Tyrannosaurus" picture book series published in June 2012.

 

The series' first anime film adaptation was produced by TMS Entertainment and Ajiado (anime production), and released under the title Omae Umasoudana (You look delicious) in Japan in October 2010. Then the second film Anato wo Zutto Aishiteru (I love you forever) followed in June 2015.

 

The new film Sayonara, Tyranno is directed by 47-year-old Koubun Shizuno, known for his directorial works for the Detective Conan film series (15th to 21st), Knights of Sidonia, and the three-part GODZILLA 3DCG series (co-directed with Hiroyuki Seshita). A screenplay is co-written by Dai Sato (Eureka Seven), Kimiko Ueno (The Royal Tutor), and Naohiro Fukushima (Santa Company). Tezuka Productions works on anime production. And, internationally acclaimed artist/composer Ryuichi Sakamoto provides soundtrack music.

 

Shinichiro Miki is cast as the protagonist Tyranno, a Tyrannosaurus who is afraid of darkness despite being the most powerful creature on earth. Kaori Ishihara voices Punon, a Pteranodon girl who lives with hope though she is unable to fly, along with Aoi Yuki as Topusu, a Triceratops child who got separated from her parents. The voice cast members also include Katsuyuki Konishi, Kikuko Inoue, Toshiyuki Morikawa, Nobuyuki Hiyama, and Unsho Ishizuka.
