Sakura Wars Returns with a Brand New Game Next Year

The curtain is rising on a new installment in the Sakura Wars series!

Tentatively titled Project Sakura Wars, the new entry in the long-running romance/action series will be rendered in 3DCG and take players back to a steampunk spin on Taisho-era Japan. Once again, you'll be in charge of a team of crack female fighters disguised as a theatrical troupe.

The new game promises heavy immersion thanks to the "LIPS dialogue system," in which both what you say and how you say it will influence your relationships with the ladies of the Tokyo Revue. The girls will fight in "spiricle armor," and the game's combat system will make use of each fighter's special abilities.

Handling character designs this time around is Tite Kubo, best known as the creator of Bleach. The protagonist and his team of fighters have been announced, and include:

Seijuurou Kamiyama: CV Yohei Azakami (Deathpierce in The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of the Commandments). A former Navy ship captain, recently reassigned to the new Imperial Combat Revue: Floral Division. This is you.

Sakura Amamiya: CV Ayane Sakura (Ochaco Uraraka in My Hero Academia). An admirer of the Floral Division's top star Sakura Shinguuji. She enlists as a novice in the new Revue, and has high hopes for the restoration of both its theatrical and combat aspects.

Hatsuho Shinonome: CV Maaya Uchida (Norman in The Promised Neverland). A shrine maiden born in the Old Town who loves the traditional ways of the locals. Despite coming off as rude, she's actually a great mediator.

Azami Mochizuki: CV Hibiku Yamamura (Sara Garando in ISLAND). A 13-year-old ninja prodigy, well-versed in her family's Mochizuki Style. She's had a very strict upbringing, and highly values the 108 Laws of the village in which she was raised.

Anastasia Palma: CV Ayaka Fukuhara (Sayaka Igarashi in Kakegurui). An accomplished European actress who wandered from troupe to troup before joining the Floral Division. She has an impressive singing range and can take on many types of roles.

Claris: CV Saori Hayami (Kokoro in DARLING in the FRANXX). Full name Clarissa Snowflake. A voracious reader frome Luxembourg, who also happens to be the successor to a style of dark magic called Juumadou.
