Unlike in the rest of the world, Netflix Japan streams anime as it is broadcast in the country (or sometimes earlier if it's an original). This means that TV anime series, like Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- is able to be watched on the service in the island nation the week it broadcasts on TV, though with a slight few day delay.
That small delay hasn't limited hype for the series in Japan though, as Netflix Japan announced on their anime Twitter account on September 10 that Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- is currently the most-watched work on the platform at the moment. Japanese people must really like the Witches tea!

『Re:ゼロから始める異世界生活』が
いま日本で観られている作品No.1に✨
今期アニメ【2nd season】は9話まで配信中!毎週月曜に最新話配信????

To me though, it's surprising. Usually, I see the Top 10 filled with all the K-Dramas (with Crash Landing for You on top) and maybe Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba or Evangelion depending on the mood of the nation, but right now it has Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- and the currently airing season of Food Wars, though both are on a delayed stream, with only 9 episodes of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- season 2 currently released on the platform.
Though if you want to watch all currently released episodes of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- season 2, Crunchyroll can hook you right up!
