Shin-Ei Animation's New Idol-themed Anime Idolls! Set for January 2021

The official website for Shin-Ei Animation (Doraemon and Crayon Shin-chan)'s first idol-themed TV anime Idolls! / IDOL Survival opened on September 28, announcing its premiere on BS Asahi in January 2021.

In cooperation with the major voice actor agency 81 Produce, an open audition "Idolls Project" was held for about a year. 84 rookie voice actresses competed to be the anime's four main voice cast members by challenging various videos and projects on the YouTube channel 'What's Sei You?."  The final round of the audition was held in Tokyo on March 31, 2020. The event was live-streamed on YouTube, and its four winners - Aina RutouAmi Mizuno, Shiori Hanaoka, and Ruka Yashiro were chosen by a real-time poll by viewers and judges, as well as online voting based on the previously posted examination videos.

The four will play idol characters with the same first name as themselves - Aina, Ami, Shiori, and Ruka. They will be also in charge of filming their characters' motion using motion capture technology. By recording their voices at the same time, their realistic performances and natural reactions will be directly reflected into animation.

To celebrate the announcement of the broadcast date, a special program hosted by the four will be live-streamed on YouTube and Nico Nico Live from 20:00 (JST) / 04:00 (PT) on October 3, 2020. Further details about the project are expected revealed in the program.
