With many new films not opening for a few more weeks due to current circumstances, TOHO Cinemas announced on June 30 that it's opening week will b populated by anime films from Kyoto Animation, starting with the Munto anime film and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya on the cinemas opening day, July 3.
Each day will feature a different film franchise, which are as follows:
July 3
Tenjobito to Akutobito Saigo no Tatakai and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
July 4
The K-ON! anime film and all the films from the Sound! Euphonium franchise, including Liz and the Blue Bird
July 5
All the Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club anime films, including High Speed! Free! Starting Days
July 6
The two Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions anime films
July 7
The two Beyond the Boundary anime films
July 8
A Silent Voice and Tamako Love Story
July 9
Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll
TOHO Cinemas Ikebukuro is also running an Evangelion 3.0+1.0 collaboration with the upcoming film, which would've been showing in cinemas across Japan had it not been delayed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. A poster featuring the characters of Evangelion at the famous Owl statue in JR Ikebukuro Station has been released.
