An unlikely pair is off to the races in a new key visual for Appare-Ranman!, an upcoming original TV anime about a wayward samurai and an inventor who embark on a wild, steampunk journey across United States during the turn of the 20th century.
Set at the turn of the 20th century, the story of Appare-Ranman! follows Soran Appare, a brilliant but anti-social engineer, and Isshiki Kosame, an extremely capable but timid smaurai, who become stranded in Los Angeles, California after an accident at sea.
Soon the two of them learn about a trans-continental road race from Los Angeles to New York City that awards the winner a huge cash prize, and together they enter the race in hopes of buying their way home. And so Soran and Isshiki travel across America in a steam-powered car, facing off against outlaws, rival racers, and unforgiving wilderness along the way.
Appare-Ranman! is directed by Masakazu Hashimoto and features animation production by P.A. Works. The release date for the series has not yet been revealed.
