Tokyo Revengers Live-Action Film Release Date Pushed Back due to COVID-19

The official website for the forthcoming live-action film adaptation of Ken Wakui's Tokyo 卍 Revengers manga announced today that its release is postponed to a TBD future date in response to the situation in the country due to the spread of the COVID-19 infection. The film was originally set to be released in Japan on October 9, 2020. The new release date will be announced as soon as it is decided.

The live-action film project was announced by Warner Brothers Japan in February 2020, and Tsutomu Hanabusa (Kakegurui, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! live-action films) is attached to direct. The director posted his message of apology on the website as below.

"We're going back and forth between the present and the past with Takemichi, filming Mikey and Doraken, as well as Naoto, and being interrupted by Kisaki..., it's been taking time. We're sorry! For those of you who are looking forward to it, just wait a little longer for the release!"

The film's official Twitter also writes:

"For those of you who have been looking forward to the release of this film, we apologize for the inconvenience, but we would appreciate your understanding. We will inform you of the revised schedule as soon as it is decided. We'll be working hard to bring the film to you toward the new release date! Stay tuned for further information!"
