Bushiroad has launched the 24th-anniversary project for Broccoli's character franchise Di Gi Charat. Its main character, nicknamed Dejiko, was originally born as the mascot character for Broccoli's retail chain store, Gamers, in 1998. Its popularity has led to a wide range of mixed media projects, such as manga, drama CDs, game, and TV anime. The reason why the 24th-anniversary is so important for the franchise is because it is a pun on the number 24 (Ni-Yon) and Dejiko's habit of saying "Nyo" at the end of words.
The anniversary project will include the original character designer Koge-Donbo's "Di Gi Charat" art exhibition to be held at GoFa(Gallery of Fantastic art) in Shibuya, Tokyo, from February to April 2022, a collaboration card with Broccoli's popular trading card game Z/X -Zillions of enemy X-, and the main character Dejiko's virtual YouTuber debut in January 2022. Her original 3D model, fully supervised by Koge-Donbo, is now in the works. Its "Episode 0" will be streamed on YouTube at 12:00 p.m. on January 22, 2022 (JST).
