The Anime Awards 2023 is coming soon, and Crunchyroll is proud to announce the two hosts leading the event! Announced at TIFFCOM, voice actor Sally Amaki (Carol Olston in Tomo-chan Is a Girl!) and pop entertainer Jon Kabira will host the awards when the event is held next year.
Sally Amaki
Originally from Los Angeles, Sally Amaki is one of the members of the digital voice actor idol project 22/7 (Nanabun no Nijuni), produced by Yasushi Akimoto and a collaboration between Sony Music and ANIPLEX. She is active in many fields as an MC for TV shows and events with her English ability.
"I'm very excited to see which anime will win in each category! I will do my best to host this exciting event!" said Amaki.
Jon Kabira
From Okinawa, Japan, Jon Kabira studied at the University of California, Berkeley while attending the International Christian University (ICU). He then joined CBS SONY (now Sony Music Entertainment), working with foreign countries on the importing of record materials and artist promotions. He now works as a sports program and informational program MC, while also appearing on TV, commercials, magazines and stage performances.
"I'm delighted and excited to be asked to host the seventh annual edition of the Crunchyroll Anime Awards! Sally Amaki and I are looking forward to the event together with the whole world. See you there!" said Kabira.
The seventh edition of the Anime Awards will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 with a live ceremony at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Tokyo, with creators, talent and anime studio members in attendance. The event will also be streamed to global audiences. Judges for the event will be announced before the end of the year, with final nominees and fan voting held in early 2023.
