Japan Box Office: One Piece Film Red Returns to No.1 in Its 13th Weekend

The king has returned to his throne. One Piece Film Red earned an impressive 340 million yen (2.29 million USD), 240 percent of last weekend, on 224,000 admissions in its 13th weekend, returning to No.1 position from last weekend's third. One of the reasons for this return may be that the film's first seven and a half minutes was introduced during the TV broadcast of the 2012 film ONE PIECE FILM Z on Friday night.

The 15th One Piece anime feature film's cumulative total domestic gross has reached 17.7 billion yen (114.3 million USD) on 12.79 million admissions.

Coming in third is the revival screening of the Detective Conan anime franchise's 25th feature film Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween, which plans a time-limited screening in Japan from October 28 to November 7. The film made 114 million yen (766,974 USD) on 82,000 admissions on its first Saturday and Sunday.

The 111-minute film was originally released in Japan on April 15, 2022. Its cumulative box office gross since April has reached 9.48 billion yen (63.78 million USD), and it has already become the highest grossing film in the Conan anime franchise, finally surpassing the 23rd film The Fist of Blue Sapphire (2019 / 9.37 billion yen).

Last weekend's No.1 film, Sword Art Online -Progressive- Scherzo of Deep Night dropped to fourth in its second weekend. The live-action film adaptation of Aoi Hiiragi's romantic coming of age manga Whisper of the Heart ranked eighth in its third weekend, two positions down from last weekend. Uta no Prince-sama The Movie: Maji LOVE ST☆RISH TOURS, the second concert film from the Uta no Prince-sama anime franchise, still ranked 10th in its ninth weekend.

Theatrical screenings of the 4K remaster edition of Gainax and Bandai's first original anime feature film Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise began in 15 theaters in Japan on October 28. Due to the small number of theaters, it didn't appear in the overall box office top 10 but ranked No.1 in Kogyo Tsushinsha's mini-theater ranking of the weekend.
