A dramatic new key visual (below) has been published for THE FIRST SLAM DUNK, an upcoming theatrical anime movie based on the classic sports manga by Takehiko Inoue about a delinquent kid who finds new purpose through the sport of basketball.
The original Slam Dunk manga was serialized from 1990 - 1996 in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump manga magazine, and an English language version is also available from Viz Media. Slam Dunk has previously been adapted into a 1993 - 1996 TV anime which is available via streaming on Crunchyroll, who describe the story of the series as follows:
Hanamichi Sakuragi, an entering freshman at Shohoku High, holds a record for being rejected by 50 girls during middle school. Ever since the last girl turned him down for a guy on the basketball team, Sakuragi's been traumatized by the sport.

Based on his original manga, THE FIRST SLAM DUNK is written and directed by Takehiko Inoue and features animation production by Toei Animation and Dandelion Animation Studio. The film hits theaters in Japan on December 03, 2022.
