Variety: Hollywood Live-Action Adaptation Of Your Name Anime Film Lands New Director

  Hollywood trade newswire Variety has confirmed that the director of the animated film Raya and the Last Dragon in  Carlos López Estrada has now signed onto the Hollywod live-action adaptation of the Japanese anime film Your Name as its new director at the insistence of the film's production committee. He officially replaces the film's previously announced director in Marc Webb ,  first announced in 2019 to great fanfare .   The adaptation is being jointly produced by Japan's  Toho and J.J. Japan Box Office: One Piece Film Red Returns to No.1 in Its 13th Weekend

    The king has returned to his throne. One Piece Film Red earned an impressive 340 million yen (2.29 million USD), 240 percent of last weekend, on 224,000 admissions in its 13th weekend, returning to No.1 position from last weekend's third. One of the reasons for this return may be that the film's first seven and a half minutes was introduced during the TV broadcast of the 2012 film  ONE PIECE FILM Z on Friday night.   The 15th One Piece anime feature film's cumulative total domestic gross has reached 17.7 billion yen (114.3 million USD) on 12.79 million admissions.     Coming in third is the revival screening of the Detective Conan anime franchise's 25th feature film Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween , which plans a time-limited screening in Japan from October 28 to November 7.     The two-member Japanese rock unit THE SPELLBOUND has posted a full music video for their latest song "Subete ga Soko ni Arimasu You ni." Haruhi Suzumiya Introduces Grand Prize Winner of Sneaker Taisho Novel Award in PV

    Sneaker Taisho , Japan's open competition for light novels sponsored by Kadokawa Shoten, has selected Hiyoko Sumeragi's By My Flame The World Bows Down: ep.1 The Devil's Castle, Burning  as its first Grand Prize winner in 12 years. The last winner was Gangudo's Narutama ~Arui wa Gakuen Puzzle in 2010, which was later published under the new title, Kohitsuji wa Mayowanai .   To commemorate the announcement, a special PV for the novel introduced by Haruhi Suzumiya (CV: Aya Hirano) is now streamed on YouTube. Ten Count Boys' Love Anime Reveals Theatrical Plans, Teaser Visual

  We finally have some details on the Ten Count anime, which was originally planned for 2020 and aims to adapt the boys' love manga by Rihito Takarai. Moyashimon Sake Returns for College Harvest Festival

  Manga and anime series  Moyashimon  teaches us all about the wonderful things bacteria can do for us... including brewing! Suzume Production Book to Be Given Out as First Japanese Theatrical Gift

As Japanese viewers go to the theater to watch one of the biggest films of the year they’ll be given the “Makoto Shinkai Book,” which will be handed out to three million people who head out in the first week or so and watch the anime film.    Sample cover:   The “Makoto Shinkai Book” features not only interviews with the staff, including the director himself but also the original pitch for Suzume written by Shinkai, as well as excerpts of the original pitches for Your Name. and Weathering With You . New Doraemon Ukiyo-e Print Reimagines Classic Japanese Art

  The robot cat from the future know as  Doraemon  has traveled all across time and space. So it's not surprising that this vintage anime and manga creation should appear with his friends in a piece of classic Japanese artwork!   The new  ukiyo-e  print is a reimagining of  Utagawa Hiroshige 's 19th century print  Sudden Shower at Shōno,  from his  Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō . The  original work  depictures villagers and palanquin bearers dashing for cover in a torrential downpour.
