The official website for 20-year-old voice actress Sumire Morohoshi announced today that her first single "Tsumujikaze" (Whirlwind) is set to be released on April 29, 2020. One of the exciting news is the single includes a cover version of "Kagayaki no Etude," the theme song for the 2014 anime film Aikatsu! The Movie. The title of the song became one of the trendy words on Japanese Twitter today.
Morohoshi is, of course, best known as Ichigo Hoshimiya, the protagonist of the first half of the Aikatsu! TV anime series (2012-2016). In the film's story, the song was written/composed by singer-songwriter Kanon by the request from Ichigo to express her gratitude to Mizuki Kanzaki, her longtime admiring idol. The version used in the film was sung by Waka from STAR☆ANIS, Ichigo's singing voice, not by Morohoshi, Ichigo's character voice. It's no wonder the fans get excited because they will be finally able to listen to Ichigo character voice's version of the song.
As reported, the title song of the single, "Tsumujikaze" will be featured as the OP theme for the forthcoming second season of the TV anime Ascendance of a Bookworm, which is set to premiere in Japan on April 4, 2020.
