
The official website for the forthcoming anime film adaptation of Kou Yoneda's yakuza BL manga Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai (Twittering Birds Never Fly) has posted a 80-second first trailer introducing its main characters. The clip starts with a conversation between the protagonist Yashiro and Doumeki, then each yakuza characters talks about Yashiro.
As the first project from Fuji TV's newly launched BL (Boys Love)-themed anime label BLUE LYNX, Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai (Twittering Birds Never Fly)is set to be released in Japan on February 15, 2020.
Kaori Makida (episode director for Altair: A Record of Battles and BANANA FISH) is attached to direct as her first feature film work, on a screenplay by Hiroshi Seko (Ajin, Mob Psycho 100). Tarusuke Shingaki (Mirio Tougata in My Hero Academia) is cast as Yashiro, while Wataru Hatano (Haruro Bouida in Over Drive Girl 1/6) plays Chikara Doumeki.
Synopsis (from the manga's introduction by Digital Manga Publishing):
The sexually masochistic yakuza boss, Yashiro, isn't the type to warm up to others easily. But when Chikara Doumeki, his newly hired bodyguard, catches his interest, he reconsiders his "hands-off" policy with subordinates. As Yashiro's invitations fail, the yakuza boss finds out his bodyguard has a very personal reason for staying at arm's length.
