The 109-minute film was released in Japan on April 14 and earned the record-breaking 850 million yen (6.35 million USD) on 580,000 admissions on its first day, then its first three-day gross through Friday to Sunday reached 3,146,387,340 yen (23.48 million USD) on 2,176,407 admissions, both of which were also the highest in the anime franchise.
The Detective Conan film series first three-day gross top five:
1. "Black Iron Submarine" (2023) - 3,146,387,340 yen
2. "The Scarlet Bullet" (2021) - 2,218,130,800 yen

Critical reviews of the film have been very positive. The film also ranked No.1 on Filmmarks' first day satisfaction ranking with an average rating of 4.3/5.0 based on 4,842 reviews. If this momentum continues, it is highly likely to be the first film in the series to reach the 10 billion yen mark.
After dominating the top position for three consecutive weekends, Doraemon: Nobita's Sky Utopia, the 42nd anime feature film in the nationally popular Doraemon franchise, dropped to second place. In its seventh weekend, the film earned 127 million yen (943,200 USD) on 102,000 admissions. With a cumulative total gross of four billion yen (29.7 million USD) on 3.37 million admissions, it has become the sixth top-grossing film in the Doraemon franchise, surpassing the 33rd film Doraemon: Nobita's Secret Gadget Museum (2013 / 3.98 billion yen) .
The live-action film adaptation of Akumi Agitogi's fantasy light novel My Happy Marriage also dropped to third in its fifth weekend. Meanwhile, both Shin Kamen Rider and THE FIRST SLAM DUNK stayed on the same spot from last weekend, the former on fourth and the latter on fifth.
Thanks to the bonus A4 clear posters depicting the two heroines, Rikka Takarada and Akane Shinjo, GRIDMAN UNIVERSE — Studio Trigger's new anime feature film featuring characters from SSSS.GRIDMAN and SSSS.DYNAZENON — returned to top 10 in its fourth weekend, ranking sixth.
