In the latest June 2023 issue of Shonan Gahosha's Young King Hours magazine, it was announced that a live-action drama adaptation of Encouragement of Climb manga author Shiro's Camera, Hajimete mo Ii Desu ka? (Can I Begin A Camera?) is now in the works for a premiere in the summer of 2023. While Encouragement of Climb has been adapted into TV anime for four times, Camera, Hajimete mo Ii Desu ka? is his first series that has gotten its live-action adaptation.
The manga has been serialized in the magazine since its October 2019 issue and so far four tankobon volumes have been available in Japan.
The story centers on Mito Ikeda, a gloomy high school girl who doesn't like herself. She is invited by her neighbor, Chisato, to take up photography, which leads her to change little by little. After taking the first step, new friends gather around her one after another, and she begins to explore what she wants to photograph. And then Mito realizes that what she wants to photograph is Chisato...
