Natsumi Shiba's Mr. Bride Romantic Comedy Manga Gets Live-action Drama in April

A live-action TV drama adaptation of Natsumi Shiba's romantic comedy manga Watashi no Oyome-kun / Mr. Bride is set to premiere on Fuji TV and its affiliate stations in April 2023.

The manga has been serialized on Kodansha's monthly female manga magazine Kiss since 2018 and so far eight teankobon volumes have been released in Japan. Its English edition, entitled Mr. Bride, has been published from Kodansha USA and now seven volumes have been available. The US publisher describes its story as below:

Hayami is the it-woman at her job—she's cool, confident, and admired by all. But her has-it-all exterior belies a dark secret...her house is a mess, and she's no good at taking care of herself! Enter Yamamoto-kun—her colleague who thinks the world of her, and who refuses to let her slobbish behavior slide. Soon he's over at her house often enough that she asks him to move in with her! Where will this roundabout relationship take them?!

Haru (Sachiko Ogasawara in Maria Watches Over Us live-action film) is cast as the protagonist Honoka Hayami, while Mahiro Takasugi (Mitsuzane Kureshima / Kamen Rider Ryugen in Kamen Rider Gaim) plays her "bride" Chihiro Yamamoto.

Message from the original manga author Natusmi Shiba:

Yah~y!!! I would like to thank all the people who suggested and are involved in the drama adaptation. Thank you so much! I can't wait to see Haru-san relaxing while eating cup noodle and Mahiro Takasugi-san in an apron, angry with a ladle in his hand, as soon as possible. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm sure it will be the best drama ever. Because both of them have such a great love, understanding, and resolution for my work! I'm a TV kid! I've seen it! The facial expressions and such are amazing! The scripts are getting more and more lively with each episode, and I always read them while rolling with laughter. As a viewer, I am excited to see what kind of fun time we will have. I'll be sitting in seiza and waiting!
