Akiyuki Shinbo, Shaft Return to Animate New Bakemonogatari Manga Trailer in February

Monogatari

It may have been a while since the last Monogatari TV anime series was made, but it was revealed on January 12 that Akiyuki Shinbo, Akiko Watanabe, and anime studio Shaft will be returning to the franchise for a new trailer for the manga series. Meanwhile, the manga is also holding a poll to find the fan's favorite piece of artwork by Oh! Great.

Shinbo is directing and storyboarding the Bakemonogatari trailer while Watanabe returns to do the character designs at Shaft. The pair has worked on the Monogatari franchise since the first Bakemonogatari TV anime series back in 2009 where Shinbo was the chief director on the franchise. The trailer is set to be released on the same day as the 16th volume releases in Japan on February 17.

Bakemonogatari

Bakemonogatari's manga is celebrating its own slice of the franchise by holding a poll to find out which of the artwork created by manga illustrator Oh! Great for the series is the fan's favorite. 47 people who vote for the poll via postage and three people who vote by Twitter will be given a high-quality print of the winning illustration. The 38 eligible drawings are in the above image.

Kadokawa releases the Bakemonogatari manga in English, with the 12th volume scheduled to be released on February 22, 2022. Crunchyroll streams the Monogatari TV anime series' multiple seasons, describing the first TV anime, Bakemonogatari, as such:

“Bakemonogatari” (translated “Ghost Story”) was written by Nisioisin, one of the most popular writers in Japan, and the series consists of 5 different stories. Thanks to Meme Oshino, Koyomi Araragi, a high school student, is able to remain a human after coming across a female vampire...
