Shueisha's Saikyou Jump manga magazine is celebrating the artwork of Akira Toriyama's landmark manga, Dragon Ball, with a series of back cover illustrations by other artists, and the first illustrator to contribute their interpretation of Toriyama's characters is none other than Masashi Kishimoto, the author of Naruto.
Kishimoto's illustration (above) is an interpretation of the cover of Volume 11 of the Dragon Ball manga. By way of comparison, below are the Japanese and English language versions featuring Akira Toriyama's original artwork of Goku and Oolong.
Kishimoto's illustration appears on the back cover of the September 2021 issue of Saikyou Jump, which was published in Japan on August 04, 2021. The Dragon Ball Super Gallery project will feature a new back cover illustration each month with various different artists producing their versions of the covers of all 42 of the collected volumes of the Dragon Ball manga series.
