Everyone's getting excited for the next stage of Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These. Among them are the people behind the Japanese snack Umaibo, who used the popular treat to recreate an epic battle from the show.
The Battle of Astarte appears in both the OVA and the latest anime adaptation, as the Free Planets Alliance and the Galactic Empire face each other down with a total of 60,000 warships in play (40,000 to the Alliance, 20,000 to the Empire). Umaibo decided to make this happen again... but this time, they used their special edition Legend of the Galactic Heroes snacks to make up the troops:
The special wrappers are being released just in time for the new films, and feature mascot Umaemon dressed as heroes from both sides of the war.
How did it turn out? Check out the video featuring both the setup and the layout intercut with scenes from the anime. Even if crunchy corn snacks aren't your style, the layout really drives home the scale of the legendary space battle:
The first movie in the new season of Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These premiered yesterday in Japan. The second will come out on October 25, and the third on November 29.
