Saiyuki Reload -ZEROIN- TV Anime Announces Its Premiere Date of January 6, 2022

The official website for Saiyuki Reload -ZEROIN-, the forthcoming latest TV anime adaptation of Kazuya Minekura's fantasy action manga Saiyuki, has announced that it is set to premiere on AT-X, TOKYO MX, and BS11 on January 6, 2022, then on MBS two days later.

The manga that boldly arranged the motif of the Chinese classic fantasy novel Journey to the West has printed over 25 million copies in total worldwide since its launch in 1997. In addition to the past four TV anime series, it has also developed a wide variety of media such as OVAs, theatrical films, and musicals. The upcoming new TV anime will be based on the manga's popular "EVEN A WORM" story arc.

One month ahead of its TV premiere in Japan, the official website has posted a 15-second new PV, and a 30-second character PV for one of its four main characters, Genjo Sanzo, voiced by Toshihiko Seki. Both clips features the anime's OP theme song "Kami mo Hotoke mo" performed by GRANRODEO.

In addition, in commemoration of the manga's 25th anniversary, a special event titled "Saiyuki FESTA 2022" is scheduled to be held on April 2 and 3, 2022, following "SAIYUKI FESTA'09," a large original art exhibition held in Ikebukuro in 2009 that attracted a total of more than 20,000 visitors, and "SAIYUKI FESTA 2017" held in January 2017. On April 3, the main voice cast members will appear on the stage for a talk session. An advance entry coupon for the event will be enclosed in the "Saiyuki Roudokugeki ~Nothing to give~" DVD to be released on December 22, 2021.

To celebrate the decision to hold the event, a two-minute special PV for the manga is now streamed.
