THE PROMISED NEVERLAND Manga Illustrator Draws Dune Poster for Japanese Release

As the DUNE film opens around the world, Japan will also be bitten by the large sandworm when it hits the island nation on October 15. But before then, an illustration by THE PROMISED NEVERLAND manga illustrator Posuka Demizu was released today for the Japanese release of the film and features the main characters of the Denis Villeneuve-directed feature, drawing praise from the director.

DUNE

DUNE director Denis Villeneuve said that he was "truly impressed" by the work, saying that "it's very meaningful to me that other artists can draw inspiration from my work and incorporate it into their own. I consider it a beautiful gift." Speaking about the image itself, Villeneuve had his eyes drawn the composition of the piece, "there is something so special about using gravity in such a dynamic way to enhance the drawing. I think it's very beautiful and very poetic."

DUNE opens in the United States on October 22 after opening in much of the world before then and on HBO Max the same day.
